Digital X-Rays Digital X-Rays
One major breakthrough is the use of digital x-rays. Similar to digital photography, digital x-rays do not use conventional film. It is no longer necessary to use the sharp plastic film used by traditional x-rays. New digital sensors are ergonomically designed to better fit the patient`s mouth. Not only is it more comfortable, its also much safer as well. Digital x-rays emit 90% less energy and achieve better results.

State of the Art Computer System
Another feature of our office is the new computer system. After taking a digital x-ray, Dr. Everhart can display it on the flat-panel displays shown at left. Once there he can zoom, colorize, invert, and further manipulate the x-ray right before the patient`s eyes. This enables him to clearly point out and demonstrate to the patient exactly what is going on in their mouth.

    Intraoral Camera
This device is essentially a tiny digital camera with lights that allows Dr. Everhart to take close-up color pictures of a patient`s teeth, gums, or smiling face. Because the camera is digital it is connected to the computer system as well. The patient can watch on the flat-panel display and see exactly what Dr. Everhart sees. This is just one more tool the doctor can use to thoroughly illustrate various topics to the patient.

Preventative Care
Without SealantsProtected tooth with SealantPreventive procedures include techniques that will help you to have healthy teeth for a lifetime. Sealants, fluoride treatment, and regular cleanings can all help to prevent dental problems.

Dental sealants act as a barrier, protecting the teeth against decay-causing bacteria. The sealants are usually applied to the chewing surfaces of the back teeth (premolars and molars) where decay occurs most often.

Professionally-applied fluorides are in the form of a gel, foam or rinse, and are applied by a dentist or dental hygienist during dental visits. These fluorides are more concentrated than the self-applied fluorides, such as those in fluoride-containing toothpastes, and therefore are not needed as frequently.

Teeth Whitening
After Tooth WhiteningBefore WhiteningEverybody loves a bright white smile, and there are a variety of products and procedures available to help you improve the look of yours.

We offer three different whitening options to suite the patient`s individual needs:

Crest Whitening Strips© are virtually invisible, so you can wear them any part of your day. Wear them while getting ready in the morning, talking on the phone or watching TV. 30 minutes twice a day is all it takes to get the whiter smile you`ve been wanting.

The Zoom! In-Office Whitening System is a revolutionary tooth whitening procedure. It`s safe effective and fast, very fast. In just over an hour, your teeth will be dramatically whiter. Zoom! Whitening is ideal for anyone looking for immediate results. The convenience of Zoom! makes it the perfect choice for the busy individual.

Custom made bleaching trays are another choice for our patients. These trays are made to specifically fit the unique mouth of the patient. These trays are then taken home where at their own leisure, the
patient fills the tray with the whitening compound and places it over their teeth for a given amount of time.

Tooth-Colored Fillings
White Composite FillingsComposite fillings are a mixture of acrylic resin and finely ground glasslike particles that produce a tooth-colored restoration as opposed to amalgam fillings which have a dark metallic finish (see photo at right). Composite fillings provide good durability and resistance to fracture in small-to-mid size restorations that need to withstand moderate chewing pressure. Less tooth structure is removed when the dentist prepares the tooth, and this may result in a smaller filling than that of an amalgam. Composites can also be “bonded” or adhesively held in a cavity, often allowing the dentist to make a more conservative repair to the tooth.

Veneers and Bonding
There`s no reason to put up with gaps in your teeth or with teeth that are stained, badly shaped or crooked. Today a veneer placed on top of your teeth can correct nature`s mistake or the results of an injury and help you have a beautiful smile.

Veneers are thin, custom-made shells crafted of tooth-colored materials designed to cover the front side of teeth. They`re made by a dental technician, usually in a dental lab, working from a model provided by your dentist.

You should know that this is usually an irreversible process, because it`s necessary to remove a small amount of enamel from your teeth to accommodate the shell.

When you choose bonding, your dentist prepares your tooth with an etching solution. Then special composite resin materials are blended in colors carefully chosen to match your own teeth. These materials are applied to your teeth, then shaped into just the right contours. Finally they`re hardened or bonded in place.

All Porcelain Crowns
Porcelain Crowns and BridgesIf you want a smile that`s your crowning glory, you may need a crown to cover a tooth and restore it to its normal shape and size. A crown can make your tooth stronger and improve its appearance.

It can cover and support a tooth with a large filling when there isn`t enough tooth left. It can be used to attach a bridge, protect a weak tooth from breaking or restore one that`s already broken. A crown is a good way to cover teeth that are discolored or badly shaped. It`s also used to cover a dental implant.

Lasers in Dentistry
A laser is a device that uses light energy to perform work. Lasers are unique because they can treat targeted tissue while leaving surrounding tissue unaffected. It is this property among others that allow dentists and hygienists to perform very precise procedures. In addition lasers may seal off blood vessels and nerve endings during a procedure lessening bleeding, postoperative pain and swelling. In many cases due to their gentle and precise nature lasers are used with little or no anesthetic.

Laser DentistryLaser Assisted Periodontal Therapy
It is estimated that over 80 percent of the adult population has gum disease from one degree or another. Here at Dr. Everhart`s office we are practicing the latest in technology. We take pride in the fact that our fight against periodontal disease is uncompromising. Our high standard of care includes the integration of the diode laser in our Periodontal Therapy Treatment. Traditional Scaling and Root Planing is performed along with decontamination of diseased pockets with the use of lasers. These two combined treatments have had an outstanding result in pocket depth resolution and disease remission. Our goal is to achieve disease remission and maintain that status with a closely monitored hygiene approach.
